Microblogging service Twitter is making it easier to find people and posts with the addition of autocomplete and “People you follow” search results.
Twitter has taken a page from Google’s enhanced search feature list and now shows the most relevant suggested search terms as you start typing your query. To make your search even faster you can choose your query from the list of suggestions in the drop-down menu before you finish typing.
“People you follow” search results are another addition that will improve the real-time search experience and make it easier to find what you are looking for on the site.
“In addition to seeing ‘All’ or ‘Top’ Tweets for your search, you can also now see Tweets about a given topic from only the people you follow when you select the ‘People you follow’ view,” said Twitter in a post on the company blog. “Viewing Tweets about a topic from just the people you follow is a great way to find useful information and join the conversation.”
Twitter said it is also rolling out additional search improvements including automatic spelling corrections for misspelled search terms, related suggestions for popular search queries, and search results that show people’s real names and user names.
The new search features are available on twitter.com. Related search suggestions, search autocomplete and spelling corrections are also available for Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android.
