"Who is Paul Carrick Brunson?" Some may say, it’s fine I do not berate but educate :-) ...
Paul Carrick Brunson is a former investment banker who quit his high-ranking position within a top banking firm in 2008 to undertake an apprenticeship under the tutelage of top relationship coach Rachel Greenwald, author of ‘Have Him At Hello’. Thereafter Brunson studied and became a certified life-coach and fully immersed himself in study of psychology, counselling and the science of social interaction. After this time he went on to set-up OneDegreeFrom.Me: a boutique Relationship/Life-Coaching service. His initial goal was to see the company grow to become No.1 in his home state of Washington DC however 4 years later Brunson’s become one of the world’s leading relationship coaches and hi services are highly sought-after. Oprah Winfrey personally handpicked Brunson to co-star in her new show entitled ‘LoveTown, USA’ and he recently wrapped-up a recurring role alongside renowned celebrity medic ‘Dr. Drew on the show Life Changers’
Brunson’s debut book entitled ‘It’s Complicated (But It Doesn’t Have To Be)’ – Penguin, shot to No. 1 on the Amazon Charts within just 4 days of its release (October 2012) The book has struck gold with women and men all over the world. But that wasn’t good enough - Paul took to Twitter to host an online discussion in order to find out what his readers REALLY thought, within minutes the conversation began trending and the feedback was amazing. The title encompasses much of Paul's on going body of research, training and personal experiences within his 10-year happy marriage. Paul was recently nominated for an ‘NAACP Image Award.
Brunson’s proved to be an authoritative and influential voice on the issues our generation face when it comes to modern day relationships, ask any one of his 114,000+ ACTIVE Facebook & Twitter followers. For the past 4 years Brunson has kept it fresh by challenging the status quo, engaging us in RELEVANT & REAL topical conversation and he continues to show himself approved through continuous professional development. The refreshing point often noted about Brunson is his approach, delivery and voice are a much needed alternative to the scare-mongering “expert” advice we so often hear.
In the past 6 months alone, Paul Carrick Brunson has been featured on National & International shows including: The Talk, The Wendy Williams Show, Good Morning America, Extra, The Jeff Probst Show and Ricki Lake among many others. You can frequently read his online and print contributions in Essence magazine, whenever his articles go live, the page views hit over 500,000 within the week.
Last year's conference challenged us to think differently and explored the broader relationship discussion. I took serious notes (read my review) and was inspired to try new things, like speed dating (Catch me Cupid) and entertaining dating again (Dating in the 21st Century: Part 1 and Part 2). So you can see that I listened attentively and learnt through putting some things into practice. So what can I/we expect this time round?
This year’s interactive discussion, focuses on how to find and maintain healthy personal and professional relationships outside of our comfort zones, as well as topics which affect and influence our decision-making when it comes to relationships in modern Britain. Brunson is also a believer that “love comes in unexpected packages”, hmm does that mean my visualisations of Hubby is a fruitless exercise? Paul say it ain't so?
This year’s host is the lovely host is Jacqueline Shepherd of Colourful Radio and the panellists on the night are Jimmy Akinbola, Earlecia Richelle Gibb, Dear Dr Rob, Cat Joy Lewis, Anthony-Lorenzo Brathwaite and Loren Cook and ME. Yes I am chuffed. The flirting will be switched off, though honesty will remain. After the discussion there will be a live match making session , Q and A, book signing and after-party Mixer where the flirting button is allowed to be switched back on, if need be :-).
Regardless or your relationship status this will be a fun, informative and entertaining evening for both men and women, so spread the word and get your tickets. What are you waiting for? See you there x
