Most of you will be able to create a links to another post in Blogger using the posts editor. You Just highlight the text you want and click on the figure eight icon and Blogger creates the link for you. Which is great most of the time.

         

                                 

However what if we want to direct the visitor a particular section of a different post? When you create a an internal link it will take the viewer to the top of the page but what if you want them to see something near the end of the article? Well using an internal link similar to what we did to create internal links within the post we can. Say I want to take my reader to a particular post in this case Google Page Ranking And Google Analytic Tips. How would I go about it.

Affilate Banner Put Below in your Blogger Post:

I create the link as usual by copying the article URL address from the browser address bar and using the post editor to add the link. The Blogger post editor uses this structure:

So the Blogger editor would create the following link:

Now I Want to direct my visitors to the section about creating breadcrumb navigation so I add a section name using the following structure;

Thus my link would look like this in the Edit HTML section of my post editor

Answer is that i used simple HTML that anyone can learn in a few minutes. Here are the Steps i used to create these links.

1. Login in to Your Blogger Blogspot.

2. Go to Posting > New Post or Edit Post and either create a new article or edit an existing one.

3. With the article find a place where you want to add some jumps links. This will be early on in the article as it will help the reader figure out what information is significant to them and how to get there quickly.

4. Switch to the Edit HTML mode rather than compose mode so you can see the code you are inserting into your post.

5. Create a couple of headings that will be your links to material further down in your Blogger articles. Note you can also just jump to a word but for the purposes of this demonstration and clarity I am going to use heading. When creating this post i used the following heading.

The href attribute and closing </a> element is the same structure you use for other links in your blog.

Each Identifier is preceded by a hash mark like #. The # tells the visitor's browser to look for a section within your post.

Each links identifier needs its own unique identifier and needs to be enclosed in inverted commas Use a name that reflects the link you are creating if possible as it will make it easier to identify on a page with a lot of internal jump links. Now go to the first point in your post where you want to jump the reader to. This will be the start of some new idea, section or logical split in the information.

At this point create your anchor text by first adding your heading and then enclosing your heading with this anchor structure.

Note the use of the name attribute at the beginning and the </a> element at the end.

Each link identifier needs to be enclosed in inverted commas. Using this anchoring structure our first anchor becomes:

1. Login Your Blogger Blog.
2. Create New Post.
3. Write Article.
4. Then where you want to make link then go to Link or your Blog where you change your heading size and where you make your character bold or regular here Link is available in blue color and the click it.
5. After Click you give the path like your website URL and Heading Of URL and ok that's all done enjoy it easily.

Click Start Importing:

Facebook will now import your feed and you will be taken to a preview screen to make sure the content matches your blog. If it does go ahead and confirm the import by clicking on the Confirm Import Button

Go to your wall in Facebook to check that your Blogger posts are now available to all your Facebook friends and family.

Tips and Troubleshooting:

1. If your Blogger blog is member only the blog import will fail as Facebook will be unable to detect your blog's feed.
2. To remove a blog post from your wall in Facebook click on the Remove button on the right-hand sidebar.
3. If your Images are not displaying then you may need to try importing your blog using Networked Blogs.

The fact is that in international education most of us work in very expensive private schools. And as much as we possibly don't like to think about it, there is some marketing that needs to be done. When parents drop a large amount of money on a child's education, they deserve to feel like they are getting what they are paying for plus some extras. One thing that doesn't impress is nickel and dime-ing families. Stop and think about your school. Is it a luxury brand offering a luxury experience? Or, is it a luxury brand being sold out of the back of a truck in an alleyway? Are you charging for services that should be included as extras?

That Is The Solution Of Your Blogger Missing Gadget Features

If you are experiencing problems with the Add a Gadget features not showing up in the layout screen of your Blogger Blogspot Blog then read on as I have found the solution to this annoying problem.

The other day I discovered to my horror i had lost the option to Add a Gadget in the layout screen of all my blogs in Blogger. Typically it couldn't have happened at a worse times as i had just planned to sit down to write some new posts. I looked in the Blogger help section for the solution but could find no reference to the problem.

I eventually found the answer, after about 10 minutes, buried in the Blogger Help Group section. I thought I would therefore post a short tip for anyone out there looking for a quick answer to the loss of the Add a Gadget function from the Layout Screen.

Clear Your Browser's Cache:

When the Add a Gadget feature is missing from your layout screen and you have tried refreshing it probably means you need to clear the cache of your Browser. In Internet Explorer 6 you would go to the Tools menu and choose internet options from the drop down menu. In the dialog box that appears select the General tab and then click on the Delete Files from the Temporary Internet Files Section. Once done close the dialog box and refresh the layout screen in Blogger. With any luck you will now be able to see the Add a Gadget option once again. For other Browsers follow the directions in the browser's help section on clearing the cache or check out Blogger Help Article about clearing cache.

In this Blogger tutorial you will learn how to insert jump breaks into your Blogger posts as an aid to quick navigation for your visitors. Jump Breaks in Blogger provide an easy way to show only a snippet of your whole post on the home page of your blog with a read more link below it for the rest of the story. The advantage of adding jump breaks to your Blogger posts is that your most recent posts for what interest them rather than having to scroll through a whole bunch of long articles. This is definitely a big help for those of us like me who often write articles longer than 500 words. If your posts are short and sweet you may find adding this read more features is unnecessary however you can still apply it when you do have a longer post. Below is an example post which illustrates the Jump Break feature in action.

How to Insert Jump Break (Read More Links) In Blogger Blogspot Blog:
It is easy to insert a jump Break into your Blogger post (Blogspot Posts) at any point of your choosing.
These are two methods of inserting the Jump Breaks in Blogger.
Which method you choose depends on which post editor you are using. If you are not sure which editor your using check this out by going to setting > Basic and Scrolling to the bottom of the page. Under Global Setting you will see a radio Button next to old editor of updated editor.

Select Blogger Editor From Setting: Basic

Step 1:
Insert Jump Breaks - New Blogger Post Editor Only:
In order to use this method you need to be using the updated editor in Blogger or have Blogger in Draft enabled. When creating a new post in the Blogger Post Editor position the cursor in the editor at the point you wish the Jump Break to be inserted. Click on the insert Jump Break icon (currently the last option on the menu).
Click on the Jump Break icon to insert a jump break into a Blogger post. A jagged dividing line will appear to mark the insertion point. A divider line indicates where the jump break will occur.

Publish Your post as Normal.

Step 2:
Insert Jump Breaks - Older Blogger Post Editor Only:
If you are using the old post editor rather than the new post editor you can still insert jump break into your Blogger posts. When creating a new post in the Blogger post editor make sure you are in the Edit HTML mode rather than compose mode.

Insert the following code at the point where you want to break the jump Break to occur:

Publish post as normal.

To Add Jump Breaks to New Posts Automatically:
To save time it is possible to automatically add Jump Breaks to Post with the following method:

Go to Setting > Formatting and Scroll to bottom of the page:
Under Post Template paste <!-- MORE --> into the box and save. The next time you7 create a new post the  <!-- MORE --> will automatically appear. Make sure you are in the Edit HTML mode to See <!-- MORE --> appear.

Add the code to your Post Template  in Setting  | Formatting to automate Jump Break:
To Change the Read More Text:
if you want to change the read more text for something like Read Full Story or Continue Reading You can easily do this by:

Go to Design > Page Element
Edit the Blog Posts Widget

Chang the post page link text Read More Text which appears at the top of the page to your preferred text and save.

Jump Breaks Page Link text can be changed via Blogger Layout Page Element Edit Blog Posts:
To manually add jump breaks to Blogger For Users of Customized Templates. If you are using highly a customized template or have customized your blog posts widget you may experience a problem in getting the blogger jumps break feature to work. In this event you can edit your Blogger Template to enable jumps Breaks.

As a precaution back up your template by downloading full template to your own computer.
Tick the Expand Widget Template Check Box:
Using CTRL + F find the following line of code:

Directly below this line insert the following code into your Blogger Template:

Three Take-Aways from Alan November's (@globalearner) TCIS Visit

Over the weekend Ben Summerton (@bensummerton), Steve Katz (@stevekatz), and I (@tsbray) had a chance to go to TCIS and listen to Alan November (@globalearner) talk about education. Many of the thoughts and tools that Alan shared weren't new to me, but it was great to hear a noted speaker and educational guru confirm what we are doing at KIS. The three main take-aways for me were -- the importance of having students ask their own questions, the importance of effective and efficient searching, and the importance of authentic global audience. I'd like to thank Joseph Fambro (@krea_frobro747) and all the teachers who helped from GSIS and TCIS to make the Alan November event happen... And of course, I'd like to thank Alan November.

The importance of asking questions: 

Students certainly don't need us to spoon feed them answers to questions, what they need to be doing is generating their own questions and finding answers to those questions. Innovation and creativity will never truly develop, if questions aren't asked. Sadly it is difficult for many students to ask their own questions, because they have never been taught how; or, they have had the fear of not being correct forced down their throats. Learning is about asking questions and learning how to find answers to those questions. In order to compete in the modern world, students will need to understand how to learn and that won't happen unless they know how to question. The people in my generation were expected to change careers seven times during our life times -- that involves learning new skills. Students from the current generation will change careers even more, because in the future many current jobs simply will not exist. If you can't learn new skills, you won't have work.

The importance of effective and efficient searching:

Just Googling it isn't quite good enough anymore. If you have seen Eli Pariser's TED Talk about how search engines are tailoring your searches, then you will understand why this issue is major in education. If you haven't watched it -- YOU MUST! Seriously, go watch it now and if it doesn't scare the life out of you in some way, then you have some major character flaws. Students are going to need to know how to trick search engines and luckily Google allows us to do this by using Search Operators. The operators help you better define exactly what you are looking for and who you are getting it from.

The importance of authentic global audience:

I've been a huge proponent of this idea for years, but Alan turned me on to something I hadn't really thought about -- the importance of anonymity as well as audience. His example is the website FanFiction, which has thousands of contributors who all use anonymous identities to share their writing. One example we looked at showed a list of people who had written short stories in the style of J.K. Rowling  (famous for the Harry Potter series). There were thousands of stories by hundreds of writers and some were 400,000 or more words in length... 400,000 words! When was the last time one of your English students wrote something that long? I bet the answer is never. I'm right, right? No one is getting paid; everyone is anonymous -- so why? These people are simply sharing their love of writing with each other for pleasure, but they do it anonymously, because that way the critique is about the writing, not about them as a person. I remember working in Turkey our English department would trade (or share) grading of exams -- that way students didn't feel that one teacher was grading too easy or too hard, because their exam was graded by everyone. This trading allows someone completely objective to view the work and the students don't take the comments personal, because they don't know that person. This allows the regular teacher to help the students understand the critique without emotions getting in the way as much; furthermore, it doesn't make difficulties in the student-teacher relationship.
