The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975: Q&A with Darcus Howe

Resurrected from the vaults of a Swedish TV company by director Goran Hugo Olsson, The Black Power Mixtape is a rare piece of footage which documents the struggle for civil rights in the USA between 1967- 1975. Following the assassination of Martin Luther King, the film encapsulates the tone that led to groups such as The Black Panther Party and the Nation of Islam forming.

The Swedish reporters captured key moments and people within this period of time, including Stokely Carmichael, Angela Davis and Bobby Seale, with contemporary audio featuring artists such as Erykah Badu, Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson and Talib Kweli.
Co-produced by Danny Glover and distributed by Soda Pictures, this film is important on many, many levels. Come and view the film and listen to the Q&A with Darcus Howe  facilitated by me, to see how.
